School of Exercise and Sport Science
Kim Thornton joined the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Exercise and Sport Science faculty on April 1, 2012. In addition to her faculty responsibilities in EXSS, Kirkpatrick-Thornton serves as the EXSS Activities Courses Coordinator.
Kim taught and coached in public schools for 19 years before coming to UMHB. She made stops at Weatherford, Hillsboro, Robinson, Midway and Lorena before coming to UMHB as the Head Women’s basketball coach where she served from 2005-2012.She guided the Cru women to six American Southwest Conference Championship Tournaments advancing to the ASC Championship Game in her inaugural season and leading the UMHB women to the only ASC West Division title in the program’s history during the 2009-10 season. Kim’s husband, Philip works at UMHB in the Physical Plant as a Building Access Controller Technician.
