Favorite Thing About UMHB
I have many favorite things about UMHB. However, since I can only pick one, the community and the family-like feel of it. I love how this place has become my home away from home.
I grew up near the beach in Yucatan, Mexico, where I graduated high school and attended college. As an international/transfer student at UMHB, I was able to find a place where I felt welcomed and loved by not just the faculty and staff, but also the students. I was also lucky enough to meet the love of my life, Chelsea, while we participated in one of my favorite traditions, Welcome Week. Recently, I graduated with a masters degree in counseling; I just can’t get enough of UMHB! I enjoy spending time with my wife and children; I also enjoy the outdoors, video games, and love that I can help students explore the opportunity of transferring to UMHB.
I lived in Cancun, Mexico for several years, y’all need to go visit, it is such a beautiful place!
My UMHB story started in the summer of 2006. I came to UMHB as an international student not knowing much about the university. Very quickly, I was able to meet some of the best people and friends of my life. During my time as an undergraduate student at UMHB, I was involved in Crusader Knights, Baptist Student Ministries, Intramural Sports, various student organizations, and I was also selected to be a University Ambassador. I know I did not choose UMHB. It was more like UMHB found me, by God’s grace, when I needed a place to call home.
