Dr. Hughes joined UMHB as an assistant professor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program in the fall of 2019. Dr. Hughes has been a practicing physical therapist since 2010 and has worked in a variety of settings ranging from intensive care units, to outpatient post-surgical care, to contract therapy while traveling throughout California.  Throughout her years as a practicing clinician, Dr. Hughes found passion caring for patients in the acute setting and specialized in wound management.  Dr. Hughes became a Certified Wound Specialist through the American Board of Wound Management in June 2019.  Dr. Hughes is a member of the Texas Physical Therapy Association (TPTA) and the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) including the Acute, Cardiopulmonary, and Education Sections of the APTA.  Dr. Hughes and her husband have two sons and the Hughes’ family worships at Immanuel Baptist Church in Temple, Texas.
