Avery Green is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication and Media Studies at UMHB. Green started teaching at UMHB in 2005. She's taught a variety of classes including Intro to Public Relations, Advanced Public Relations, Special Topics in Public Relations, AP Copy Editing, Photojournalism, Intro to Mass Media and Seminar in PR. Green oversees student internships as they pertain to the PR degree plan. She is the Program Coordinator for the PR track. 

Green was instrumental in founding the UMHB Chapter of Student Event Planners Association (SEPA) in spring 2018. SEPA was recognized as the new UMHB Student Organization of the Year by Student Organizations in May 2018.

Green has served as a Subject-Matter-Expert (SME) in professional communications for the UMHB MyWay program since its inception in 2016. Green also served as the UMHB yearbook adviser for a decade (2005-2015).

Green earned Master of Arts in Mass Communication at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. She also earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and a minor in Speech Communication from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. In 2015, Green earned her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) from the Public Relations Society of America.

Prior to starting her graduate work, Green worked in the business sector as an Information Education Specialist at the Texas State Soil & Water Conservation Board and she worked as the Director of Program Development for the Temple Chamber of Commerce.
