Susan Hutchinson is Professor of Social Work at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. She was an Associate Professor at the University of Memphis (Tennessee) for eight years before her appointment at the UMHB. She was granted her doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin, her MSW from the University of Illinois (Urbana), and her B.S (French) from Indiana University, Bloomington. She has held academic appointments at the University of Texas at Edinburg, Indiana University (IUPUI) and Barry University in Miami, Florida. She has written and/or presented in the areas of self-esteem of preadolescent females, the empowerment of women in poverty, and teenage pregnancy prevention. Dr. Hutchinson instructs in social work practice and policy courses at the UMHB, and serves as Director of Field.
